In de reeks Kriterion Kiest mag maandelijks een andere Kriteriër een film naar keuze tweemaal screenen. Alles mag, alles kan. Een filmprogramma met een persoonlijk randje dat alle kanten op kan vliegen, maar altijd met groot enthousiasme gepresenteerd.

Anne: ‘Na het zien van deze film wilde ik het liefst alleen nog maar lange jurken, blauwe oogschaduw dragen en toverdrankjes brouwen. Elaine is een heks die poogt de liefde te vinden door middel van hekserij, toverdrankjes en spreuken, die zo goed werken dat ze een hele rits aan onschuldige mannelijke slachtoffers ziek van liefde achterlaat. The Love Witch is echt een technicolor dream, cinematografisch zooo mooi. Naast dat de film esthetisch gezien zeer mooi is, is hij ook nog heel grappig en absurdistisch. Kijk het als je van heksen en liefde houdt.’
Oorzaken Internationaal Podcast Festival
Vanaf 2 juli is er een nieuw festival in Kriterion: het Oorzaken Internationaal Podcast Festival. Na een uitstel van anderhalf jaar kan je eindelijk samen met anderen luisteren naar mooie geluiden en verhalen in Kriterion, buiten en op andere locaties in Amsterdam.
Binnen het thema Nature Calling presenteert Oorzaken de beste (inter)nationale podcasts, hoorspelen, documentaires, audioverhalen en audiowalks over de relatie tussen mens en natuur. Lees meer

Ordet (transl. ‘The Word’) tells in slow stately pace the tale of a devout farming family torn apart by faith and love. The youngest son shares his conservative father’s religion, whereas the eldest has proclaimed himself to be agnostic. In the mean time, the middle child becomes delusional and believes himself the resurrection of Christ.
Dir. Carl Theodor Dreyer’s opus about the frenzy of creed is striking in its restrained acting, the stylistic simplicity and the compelling editing and cinematography. The film went on to win the Golden Lion at the 1955 Venice Film Festival.

This Wednesday June 30th two films will be screened that talk about the relationship young people have with nature, earth and the climate.
While the climate crisis is a slowmotion catastrophe that everyone can encounter, it’s certain that the youngest generations will be impacted more than others. Young people will face the worst of it, but are not yet in the positions of power that can turn the tide.
In Storytelling for Earthly Survival, we look at our relationship with nature and environmental issues through film. What is the story of this earth, and what are the stories we want to engage and surround us with?
